Wow – here it is a few short weeks until Nelson Ledges Quarry Park 4th of July Weekend featuring the rebirth of RHYTHM FEST! You might ask, “What about Grateful Fest?” Don’t worry, this year these are two separate events. Grateful Fest is going to be on Labor Day weekend this year, with all the usual fixins’!

The Yarmony Grass Music Festival takes place August 15-17 at Copper Mountain Resort — high in the Colorado Rockies.

It was an extreme pleasure to have these guys (and girl) pop my interviewing cherry. I had been holding out for the one special band and it was as magical as I had anticipated. They were so funny and it was so great to finally get to find out this information that I had been itching to know for two years. And as I listen back on it you can hear Bill Nershi and co. warming up throughout the entire interview with songs like Hotel Room and Dear Prudence, which they did not play during the show. But these wisecracking’ bluegrass musicians were an interviewers dream.

Cornmeal represents several major reasons why the jamband movement is such a good thing. Harkening back to the beginning sounds of country rock in the late 1960's and early 1970's with tracks like opener "River Gap," this Chicago band is bringing their bluegrass and Americana sound to a whole new generation. The band has a lovely way of tying together the past and the present.
